No. ScamShield does not request the SMS permission. With Live Protection on, it reads your SMS app's notifications through Notification Access and scans them for scam patterns entirely on your device — message content is never uploaded anywhere. This special access is optional: the rest of the app works without it.
Each shield needs its system permission: SMS and app-notification scanning use Notification Access, while call protection uses the call-screening role. If a permission is revoked in system settings, the shield deactivates. Open the Protect tab and re-enable the toggle to grant it again.
No. Calls are never blocked and SMS are never deleted. ScamShield only warns you. With Silent Quarantine enabled it can dismiss the notification of a high-risk message, but the message itself stays in your messaging app.
No detection system is perfect. Treat verdicts as guidance and always verify through official channels. You can report misclassifications to us by e-mail — examples help us improve the patterns.
Only for the optional full-device scan you start manually. Files are never uploaded — only their cryptographic hashes (fingerprints) are checked against VirusTotal.
Yes. Live Protection and the Smart Scanner's pattern analysis run fully offline. Only VirusTotal lookups and the AI Assistant require internet.
All scan history lives only on your device. Use Settings → Clear Scan History, or uninstall the app. We hold no copy of your data.
